If the LEDs are ON, then the transmitters do not work to open the garage door. Since adding all the LED lamps, the remotes and HomeLink in our two BMWs work intermittently. We changed most all the lamps in the house light fixtures to LED lamps, including the outdoor lamps on either side of the garage door that are on the same circuit breaker as the opener. This LiftMaster has a PURPLE learn button. We recently moved to a house with a 2006 model LiftMaster garage door opener. If it doesn't work after three attempts, redo this entire step again, starting with pressing the Learn button. ![]() Do that up to three times or until the opener activates. Quickly go back to your car (you only have 30 seconds) and press the HomeLink button you just programmed for 2 seconds and then release. ![]() It's usually under the light cover near the antenna. Go to the Liftmaster opener and press the Learn or Smart button.If it never goes to a rapid flash, you may need to redo this step after repositioning the remote or aiming it in a slightly different direction. At that point, your HomeLink button has been paired with the opener. Keep pressing both buttons until the HomeLink light on the mirror goes from a slow flash to a rapid flash and then release both buttons. The HomeLink light on the mirror should start slowly flashing after a few seconds. Hold the Liftmaster remote between the mirror and windshield and simultaneously press both the button on the remote and the HomeLink button you wish to program. Pair your HomeLink to the Liftmaster using your Liftmaster remote.Release once the light on the mirror starts to flash. Clear out any current programming by pressing and holding the two outer HomeLink buttons for about 20 seconds.There are two parts - pairing the HomeLink button with the garage door opener using an existing garage door remote and then learning the code currently being used by the opener. yeah real first world problems.The following will work with most modern cars and rolling code Liftmaster garage door openers (as well as pretty much any others that use rolling codes). Unfortunately I am being told that one unit installed in the garage will probably not be enough to reach the gate, so that may yet be another issue. I ordered one and will post if successful. There is a HL Bridge device available online for about $30 (through ebay) or $30 +25 s/h directly from HL that is supposed to work. Jaguar's HL is old tech and at least in my 18 (not sure when/if they upgraded - but hope they did) It (a 2018) won't control most rolling code openers after 2011. The 2nd tech was way more familiar and after a few easy questions, was like yeah that won't ever work. Armed with this new info I make the call to HL. Get home, lots more frustration and then right before my 2nd call to HL, for fun I tried a different remote to an older garage door opener and sure enough, registered straightaway. ![]() Still under warranty, challenge accepted, well this story is already longer than it should be but after a full day of warranty they assured me it was functioning as it should, but yet failed to actually link it to the remote I left in the car. I did go to the HL site and the instructions were a bit different and then ultimately spoke to the first tech from HL who suggested the unit in the car must be bad. I have an '18 F-Type and have programmed many Homelinks (HL)for myself and others over the years, as sometimes the sequences can be a little wonky depending on MFG, so to my surprise I could not register this car to my gate or my garage. Let me jump in the fray of this as I just dealt with within last few days and if I am correct, it'll be an answer most will not like depending on age of your car.
